Stick figure looking at mirror reflection.

Mirror, Mirror…

Finding comfort with ourselves is likely one of the best things we can do. We often talk about taking self-assessments, unpacking your personal suitcase, doing an emotional inventory. But, these things can mean different things to everyone. Even when we “open up†or accept input, we may still not be comfortable with who we really are. But, not being comfortable with who you are can sometimes be the barrier for your next great jump. Nobody is perfect…nobody. But, if you can’t get right with yourself, you may increasingly find that you are distracted, undisciplined, and struggling with personal decisions.

For the next week, we want you to do something to help decide how you are with yourself. Take a look at yourself in a mirror. Not full body, just shoulders up, sitting or standing, with good light (normal, not too bright). Clear your mind, and just look at yourself for about two minutes. Feel free to blink, no need to stare, just look…don’t look away…don’t fidget…don’t move around. This is not meditation, it is simply an exercise a chance to look at yourself, without distraction.

Some people have a difficult time with this. Some people are fine. It’s just a chance to reflect at yourself. You might like what you see. You might not be as comfortable, and this could be the point of change.
