Pain Comes To Us In Many Ways
Understanding the difference between pain/discomfort and pain/injury is crucial in taking your next steps. Injury often requires longer term treatment. But, pain/discomfort is often part of a process. Pain is the burning in your legs at the end of a long shift…the struggle to get one more repetition in the gym…staying home to do your school work instead of going out to the party. Being comfortable with being uncomfortable can go a long way with overall development.
If you fail to push through the pain thresholds, you will stay in your current state. In other words, you cannot move forward without smaller incremental failures relative to pushing yourself and your current boundaries. Do you really think that the Astronauts were comfortable being strapped to a hydrogen bomb intended to propel them into outer space, where no human had ever visited? Unlikely, but their willingness to push beyond our known existence opened us to new boundaries…even offering the possibility of being boundless.
Like #Kipchoge says in this video, Pain is just part of the process. When it comes to pain, most is temporary. How you react to it will often establish a path for your future. The goals you are seeking are often on the other side of pushing yourself beyond failure. Be careful about letting your mind talk your heart into compromising your goals.
