Fake It Until You Make It?

Many of today’s players (in any sport) are so concerned with their presence, that they are failing to be present. Listen to the players…truly listen. In some cases, you’ll ferret out that they will actually applying more effort in looking like they are working hard, than the effort they would have used at actually working hard.

The influence of imagery in/on todays players is massive. There is nothing wrong with marketing yourself to try to meet people who could influence the trajectory of your growth. But, that cannot be permitted to outpace simply working hard to develop.

In the end, you can’t fake things like skill, work ethic, integrity. So, it will serve the athlete to stop worrying about presenting an image as much as putting in real effort to become elite.
